Hey Everyone, I thought I would share my skin care routine with you all.
I’ve never had acne or extremely bad skin but ever since I was a teenager I struggled with those troublesome under-skin spots all over my cheeks and forehead. It took me ages to find the perfect skin care products which really worked for my skin. I’ve tried nearly everything from high end products to drug store, but now I have finally found the perfect products and have had the same skin care routine for 2 years now. I tried drug store brands such as Clean and Clear, Clearasil, Neutrogena, Simple, Dove and Garnier. I personally despise these kind of products as I feel they dry out your skin and make spots much worse.
La Roche Posay Duo face facewash I got recommend, it is a good brand, however my skin dried out so much causing dry patches, it may work for someone else. Of course everyone has different skin, but if you’re someone like me who has dry/oily/combination skin it is difficult to find the perfect skin care routine!
For me, the perfect face wash was the hardest to master. I had tried Clinique, Liz Earle (Liz Earle have a lovely range with mild washes, their products were nice on my skin at first but after a while I felt like it stopped working and didn’t do anything for my skin anymore, does anyone else get that? I felt like my skin didn’t feel clean enough) ,Tea Tree from body shop (I find tea tree drys out your skin) and No7. Nothing was getting the WOW factor and I felt like my skin wasn’t glowing. It was then that I discovered the brand: Origins.

This face wash changed my life, it is so soft on the skin and froths up in a lather making your face feel so clean. It is perfect for combination skin and never makes my face feel dry. You only need a little amount and it will last you ages. I use this every morning before starting my day. My face always feel soft, clean and clear after using this! I have not had a spot since. It’s £17.50 but you can get it cheaper on other websites such as feelunique, look fantastic and cult beauty, which all offer student discount.

Even though I have tried Clinique in the past and have not got on with their products, I seemed to really get on with this moisturiser. I bought it last winter when i really suffered with dry skin, it is specialised for dry skin providing up to 72 hours moisture, and it really does. My skin was soft again in no time. I now use it every morning after washing my face with origins. This moisturiser is more on the expensive side 75ml is £46.00 and 50ml is £37.00 but again you can get it cheaper elsewhere such as beauty websites look fantastic and beauty bay. I personally get mine off ASOS when the student discount goes up to 20% off.

That is my morning routine just a face wash and moisturiser. However, at night I don’t use a face wash because I don’t like to over power my skin with face wash all the time. Instead, I simply get a cotton pad to wipe my makeup off with Garnier micellar water which you can get anywhere, in drug stores or supermarkets, or any micellar water is fine as its gentle on your skin. I then get another cotton pad and wipe over my face with The Ordinary Glycolic acid toner. I feel like this gets all the last bits off makeup off and tightens my skin as well making it feel firm but not dry. Toners are good because they tighten your pores preventing dirt entering in over night. This toner makes my skin glow and looks fresh and it is so cheap! I get it from ASOS for £7.00 but you can get it for around £6.80 anywhere else and it lasts forever.

After using the toner, I then use two pumps of Clarins Double Serum. This is my favourite beauty product ever. Yes it is extremely expensive, but I cannot live without. This make my skin so soft, I don’t need a night moisturiser just this! This is especially formulated to control ageing, so I’d recommend starting early. This serum makes my skin glow, helps my skin breathe and protects it, the scent also is lovely! I always get the 30ml for £58.00 but I don’t pay that, you can get it slightly cheaper elsewhere for around £50 such as allbeauty.com, just google it and you’ll find cheaper options.

Following the double serum, I go onto use these little beauties. I love how cheap the ordinary is. These are 2% Salicylic Acid and Retinol Emulsion. I don’t tend to use these together, I usually use one or the other, just depends on how I feel. I use the Retinol Emulsion all over my face, this is supposed to help spots and reduce the appearance of fine lines. I use the Salicylic Acid only on my nose area and chin, because that where I get blackheads and Salicylic Acid helps blackheads. To be honest, these don’t make a massive difference to my skin, but I feel they help a little so I always use them and there only around £5.80 so cant complain. As these are acids, they are not suitable for everyone and can cause irritation.

So thats my daily skin care routine! I do suffer with blackheads but my skin has improved so much since using these products and would not live without! I hope I can help some of you guys. I just wanted to add some more products I use monthly on my skin. I use this Kiehls clay face mask about twice a month as a little pick me up. This mask is good for blackheads and oily to combination skin. My skin feels so fresh after using this and feel like it really clean my skin. It is expensive but I’ve had it for over a year and still have loads left.

I feel it is essential to use an exfoliator, I’ve tried many exfoliators from Clarins, Clinique to Liz Earle and Origins are supposed to have some good ones but I cant justify spending too much on an exfoliator. I never was a big fan of St Ives until I went to America and found the Green Tea St Ives in Walmart and I really liked it! You can get it from boots, Superdrug or online. It smells lovely, and is really soft on your skin as well as making it feel really refreshed. I will only ever use the Green Tea version from St Ives, but its cheap £5.65 from boots and lasts along time. I only exfoliate about once a week.

I just wanted to throw this product in here, even though its not a skin care routine product, I use this on my face weekly. As I’m very fair, I like to put fake tan on my face, I used to use clarins golden glow booster but found that made me look to orange and if you don’t apply it properly it would leave you with orange marks. Whereas Bali Body face tan water is not so concentrated with tan, and leaves a lovely golden glow without over empowering your face. This makes my skin glow and looks lovely under makeup, highly recommend this product, its £25.95 on the Bali Body website.
As Clarins is my favourite Brand (also love their makeup) just wanted to throw some other products I love from them.
