What Primer is best for me?

Hi guys! So not everyone wears primer, but I highly recommend wearing a primer as it helps to anti clog pores whilst wearing foundation, the right primer can also help your makeup appear smoother and last longer, reducing the look of pores. It has taken me awhile to find the right primer, but theres a few I like out there, but everyone has different skin types, so lets have a look what one is best for you!

Best Primer for dry skin

This primer is very hydrating with an illuminating effect but no glitter. If you don’t like an illuminating effect, this is not for you, but its so hydrating on the skin making it glow, so it is perfect for dry skin. £32 on look fantastic – expensive range

Now this Hourglass primer is extremely expensive at £59, I know many of you will think that is ridiculous, but if you love your makeup and are willing to spend anything, this primer is perfect for dry skin. Although I wouldn’t spend this much on a primer, I got this as a sample and love it and is on my wish list, I just thought I had to list it. You don’t need a lot of it on your face just a pea sized amount. It helps your complexion glow with friendly silicones and natural oils.

Smashbox photo finish primer, £15.00 on look fantastic. I use this daily and it has a moisturising effect which blurs out imperfections. Its formula is loaded with antioxidant vitamins A and E to protect your skin from environmental pollutants, damage, and stress. This primer is formulated with hydraplex that moisturizes your dry skin and has a cooling effect. It also increases the staying power of your makeup significantly.

If you are on the hunt for a cheap drug store brand the NYX Hydra Touch is the top pick for you. This versatile primer creates a smooth, glowing canvas for flawless coverage while its skin-loving ingredients refresh your complexion and add life to dull skin. Currently £11.00 in boots

Best Primers for oily skin

£28 on look fantastic, a more expensive range but this primer is formulated to magnify the skin and control shine all day. It has a silky texture and feel light on the skin. I love all smashbox primers.

A cheaper drug store primer at £7.99 from boots. Formulated with soft-focus powders for a velvet finish, Sleek MakeUP Mattifying Primer helps to minimise oil on the skin whilst smoothing over fine lines and imperfections to create a smooth, perfected base.

Another NYX Primer – professional makeup high definition primer- £14.00 from boots. With a water-based formula that feels feather-light on the skin, the HD Primer helps to improve makeup application and longevity, creating the perfect smooth, oil-free base for a beautiful, long-lasting finish.

Best primers for combination skin

This vegan elf hydrating face primer is £7.50 on look fantastic. The formula is infused with Grape, Vitamins A, C, & E to help boost complexion, and hydrate your skin. Hydrating Face Primer features a luxuriously creamy texture and provides a natural matte finish.

An effortlessly dewy look with Charlotte tilbury wonder glow primer! Wonderglow creates a smoother-looking, candlelit, goddess-worthy canvas for your makeup. You can use it as a primer under your foundation OR on its own to turn around the look of tired, dull skin. £15 on Charlotte tilbury.

For flawless skin look no further than the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Suitable for use on all skin types, this silky primer conceals redness, .  The naturally-derived formula works to minimise the appearance of pores and combat signs of ageing by softening fine lines and wrinkles.  With SPF 15 protection, your skin stays shielded from the sun too. £18 on feel unique.

Best primers for dull skin

Dull, lack-lustre skin often needs a radiance boost before makeup application in order to achieve the dream lit-from-within appearance. With a sheer, pearlescent finish and an oil-free formula, this primer smooths over the skin and creates a gorgeous glow which shows through your base product of choice for a beautiful skin-like finish. One of my faves! £29 on look fantastic.

This luminous face primer hydrates, smooths and brightens skin for a dewy, healthy looking finish. Use it to prep your face for makeup, then refresh throughout the day to glow on the go. £28 on estee Lauder website

Becca does the best primers, I always use the magnifying primer but this glowy primer is amazing. Nobody does glowy primers and highlighters like them. The Backlight Priming Filter is one of their cult products that creates a ‘lit from within’ kind of glow – wear it under make-up or on its own for the healthiest, most radiant glow you ever did see.

Favourite loungewear pieces

For all those stay at home days, especially at times like this, all we want to wear is loungewear and pyjamas. So I’ve pieced together some of my favourite lounge wears and some on my wish list! enjoy 🙂

Gym shark leggings are my favourite. They are pricey ranging from £35 + but they fit so nicely and are good quality leggings. Its from ASOS, I only bought it last week and it had just came out and its already out of stock! but they will definitely re stock as its new, you just have to turn on the re stock notification on ASOS. The Daisy Street range on ASOS is lush, I have a few things in my wish list from Daisy street items. I love the colours and the Los Angeles embroidery. I am wearing with gym shark leggings here, but it would go so nice with a light pair of mom jeans, denim shorts or normal leggings. Daisy street oversized sweater – £21.99

I love this north face cropped fleece from ASOS. Its so soft and comfy and very flattering to the eye. Its £45.00 from ASOS and can be purchased on north face website too. Looks good with a pair of Jeans too! They have the fleece in different colours too, black and lemon.

My favourite makeup brushes!

The amount of makeup brushes on the market can be overwhelming, only some do the perfect job. I personally only prefer certain brands and these to me are the best brands and I’m sure many bloggers do agree. I have particular brushes I use everyday, but I have certain brushes on my wish list but just haven’t got round to buying them. Some are cheaper, some are more expensive, I personally wouldn’t spend too much on makeup brushes, I’d rather spend more on makeup! But if your’e interested in my favourite makeup brush brands, keep reading!

Foundation brushes

As seeing from previous posts, I currently use the real techniques foundation brush, I bought this along time ago and has lasted me for ages. I would update foundation brushes regularly though, I use baby shampoo to clean my brushes around every 2 months. Real techniques are a cheaper brand but they are excellent makeup brushes!

There are a few real techniques foundation brushes, this is a current one on my Wishlist. It has stippling bristles which would easily buff foundation onto your skin, and its cheap! Go on look fantastic where I buy most of my makeup and brushes where they sometimes have discount codes and offer student discount. This one is currently £6.74 on look fantastic. Link is attached.

The following are some more linked foundation brushes I would recommend:

Sigma brushes: This Sigma F80 Flat kabuki is perfect for blending in foundation, with synthetic hairs, it ensures an even finish which assures you a long lasting finish. This sigma brush on the more expensive side at £18.90 from look fantastic, but it will last you ages if you want a decent foundation brush!

Powder brushes

Powder is an essential part of my makeup routine to keep foundation in place and oils at bay, therefore a good powder brush is key! Here are my faves:

I currently use a No7 Brush, however this one is out of stock now, I have had it for around 4 years, and its still in ammaculate condition, I have continued to use baby shampoo to clean it and its stayed perfect! Although this one is out of stock, No7 have some beautiful powder brushes which are exactly the same as this, with fluffy bristles, powder glides on perfectly. Just check out the brushes on boots to see! Powder brushes from No7 are my fave, and not ridiculously expensive

Concealer brushes

I mostly use my finger to even out concealer under my eyes and around my red area’s but do own a concealer brush which I do rate, however I still prefer to use my finger but when I don’t want to get them dirty this is what I use! :

Mac: The Mac 195 concealer brush for £16.50 on look fantastic is designed with a slight tip for precise application around the eyes. With synthetic bristles, it delivers a flawless finish.

Secondly, I use the real techniques complexion sponge. Everyone needs a makeup sponge in their bag. I always use this to blend in my concealer under my eyes, or sometimes even foundation. Its only £5.99 from Superdrug.

Bronzer/Blusher Brushes

This MAC 139s Duo Fibre Tapered brush is the current bronzer brush I use on a daily basis. The bristles are soft allowing bronzer to be effortlessly applied. It is on the more pricey side, but Mac always deliver the best.

I also currently use the Real techniques blusher brush for £7.49 on look fantastic.
Again, it has soft bristles creating a seamless finish. Can also be used as a bronzer brush if preferred.

The following are on my wish list and heard good reviews about these bronzer and blusher brushes!

Heavenly luxe wand ball powder brush.

Eye brushes

My all time favourite brushes for eye makeup are urban decay brushes. I first discovered these brushes when I brought the urban decay eyeshadow palette. I then ordered some more urban decay brushes separately. I brought mine from Selfridges but you can also get them cheaper on amazon or on look fantastic and the original urban decay website. They are pricey at around £18 but they apply eyeshadow so evenly, picking enough pigment up to delicately apply eyeshadow.

Real techniques off eye makeup brushes, this set is £15.99 of look fantastic. Link here.

Also morphe offer eyebrow sets however more expensive side. Link here

Highlighter brushes

I currently use the Mac 128S Split Fibre Cheek brush. It blends my highlighter onto my cheek bones perfectly without over powering the look. Its £28 on Mac.

Some further highlighter brushes in my makeup bag:
